4 C. Sliced apples
1 C. Sugar
1 C. Water
Bring to a boil. Remove apples with a slotted spoon and set aside.
Add the following to the sugar water:
1/2 tsp. Cinnamon
1/4 tsp. Nutmeg
3 T. Cornstarch
Cook until thick and pour apples back in. Pour into 8 inch pie crust (if you have a 9 inch deep pie pan then double the recipe). Put butter slices on top of filling before putting on the top crust.
Put foil around the edge of the crust. Bake at 425 for 15 minutes. Reduce temperature to 375 and cook an additional 30-40 minutes.
